Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England - BYB Extreme Bare Knuckle Fighting Series announced today its return to West Midlands, UK when Wolverhampton hosts BYB 38 Wolves Brawl II at the Hangar on March 22.
The card will be headlined by the long-awaited rematch between two of the most accomplished bare knuckle fighters on the planet, when BYB two-division champion LT “Smash” Nelson defends his BYB Super Middleweight Police Gazette Diamond Belt against Birmingham, England’s James “The Truth” Connelly.
The fight is a rematch of their BYB 19 championship fight that ended in a draw and went on to be named the 2023 Bare Knuckle Hall of Fame Police Gazette Fight of the Year. The duo was scheduled to face off in the BYB 35 main event January 11 in Albuquerque, but just prior to that fight, the New Mexico Athletic Commission informed BYB that they have not yet adopted the Association of Boxing Commission’s Unified Rules of Bare Knuckle, and as such, would not approve a six-round fight (as all BYB men’s championship fights are contracted for). When fighters were unable to agree on new terms, the fight was postponed, and tempers flared with both accusing the other of ducking. With six rounds, three minutes and sixty degrees of mayhem in the Mighty Trigon slated for Wolverhampton, there is zero room for excuses and nowhere to run.
