MIAMI, FLORIDA – BYB Extreme Fighting Series, the modern-day originators of bare knuckle fighting in the US and largest bare knuckle fighting organization in the world, announced this week that it has signed Yunieski Gonzalez to a multi-fight deal. With 345 amateur wins, 21 wins and 17 KOs in the pros, and a former world top ten ranking in the light heavyweight division by Ring Magazine, Gonzalez is eager and poised to make an immediate impact on the division and sport. He joins training partner and newly crowned unified BYB World Heavyweight and Police Gazette World Diamond Belt champion, Gustavo Trujillo, as another international star to recently sign with the company.
Said BYB CEO Gregory Bloom, “Gonzalez’s deal is indicative of BYB’s emphasis on signing fighters who are at the top of their game, but also who are first and foremost committed to our vision of growing the sport of bare knuckle around the world. We have the deepest and most talented roster in bare knuckle, match the most competitive fights in the sport, and keep fighters active throughout the year. Fighters of Gonzalez’s caliber are taking notice and are eager to be a part of what we are building.”
Gonzalez on his decision to fight bare knuckle:
“After following the sport over the last few years and seeing its rapid growth in the combat sports space, I feel confident I will be world champion in bare knuckle, an achievement that, despite a pair of opportunities in professional boxing, didn’t materialize.”
“I am a very aggressive fighter with a lot of power in my punches. To that end, I feel that my style goes hand-in-hand with bare knuckle to the point I feel this sport was made for me and my left hook.”
Why BYB?
“BYB was the one that gave me the opportunity. They offered me a good contract, but more importantly, they dedicated the time and recognized my value as a fighter - value that I feel I have earned through hard work, dedication and competing with the best boxers in the world throughout my career. I don’t want to mention any names, but there were others that talked a great game, but when it came time to put up or shut up, that’s all it was: talk.”
